Hello,
My name is Emily and I am a mother currently to a almost three year old daughter. She was born naturally and was nursed for six months. However, recently I have discovered that my left breast still leaks out several drops of white milk and I have a strong desire to relactate again and to donate my milk to an organization that needs milk for infants. Is there a certain way about going about this? I was told to try Fenugreek, mother's milk tea and also Blessed thistle which all help to stimulate the milk again. I also read you can go to the doctor and they put you on birth control pills and another drug cammed demorpine something spelled like that? Is this all right? I am feeling today a tinge in my left breast as I used to when I felt my breasts with milk or nursing. Any help will greatly be appreciated?
My email is emily_g81@yahoo.com in case I do not see any replies here sooner.
Thank you,
Emily

I'm not experienced with relacatation but maybe you could just try pumping and see whether you can produce any milk.

I am waiting on my doctor to see if she will do the protocols. She is checking with a doctor in Asheville (lactation specialist) to see what protocols they are using. She had not done this in a long time but she may do it for me...I hope she would. All I am doing is pumping every 2 someitmes 3 hours for 15 minutes, sometimes taking herbs, am on domperidone for the past 4 days now, starting to feel a little swelling, not much yet in my breasts. A little more milk is coming from left breast only, only a drop or two more. Don't give up is my best advice. IT will take some time! What are you doing?

Thank you!! I am waiting for my doctor to get back with me about those protocols. I am getting more milk drops leaking out with domperidone and also goat's rue I just started that herb 3 days ago and I can feel my breasts swelling. Anyway, I am getting somewhere which is great! One breast my right I was not sure if I could ever get to relactate, is beginning to produce many drops when I squeeze over the last few days, even now. I am pumping every two hours just so I can get the supply in quicker and more efficient. I may try to give my toddler some of my milk again since I regrettably stopped nursing when she was 6 months due to letting people convince me. I hated that.
Thanks for the advice!

Emily,
I'm glad that this working out for you...and your family. I think it is great that you are willing to do this for someone else and that you will now be able to nourish your toddler with your milk once again.
I wish you the best! Hang in there!

Hi Emily, My name is Jennifer and I was wondering if you have been able to successfully nurse, or at least pump still after such a long time? My son just stopped nursing about 2 months ago, and I still have a strong desire to nurse /pump him again...Do you have any advice?

Hi Jennifer!! Try pumping every two or three hours, water, oatmeal, natural herbs like Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle which both are in a product called Motherlove More Milk Plus and there is another one by the same company with Goat's Rue that might work better called More Milk Special Blend. I take the Goat's Rue only with More Milk Plus due to a shipment error and also, take domperidone which will help me to relactate fully. It is possible! I am a mother of a 4 year old or about to turn 4yrs old and I had been dry like for 3 years, and now I am getting milk (not a supply yet, but getting there) from a week to a month, noticing increases. Also, you can research another natural herb made by Go-Lacta, called Malunggay Leaves, that really does a trick there! You can also buy Brewer's Yeast and Flaxseed, put them in something to eat or just take them alone which I can do pretty well! Lactation cookies are made by Flaxseed, Oats and Brewer's Yeast which all helps your supply too! Hope this helps!! These will help and also do some manual hand expression after you pump for any extra milk that helps. I would try getting a Manual Pump as well, a variety of pumps helped me. I use Medela Adv Double Electric Pump. Let me kinow if need more help, be glad to help!
