PROJECT COORDINATED BY Macabe and Pomegranate
We are very happy to announce that this year, bf.com will again be organizing a holiday toy drive for struggling families. This year pomegranate and I (Macabe) will be organizing.
The way this works is that we try to support the families in our online community that are struggling financially and might not be able to provide presents for their kids this year. Donors are matched up with recipient families, and gifts/gift cards are sent directly to the recipients.
At this time, we are asking for donors. In two weeks, we will be asking for recipient families to sign up.
Donors can give support in many ways: by sponsoring an entire family; by sponsoring one child; by donating homemade gifts, or gifts from one's business; by donating one or two gifts; by donating shipping funds to help other donors ship their gift items; by donating gift cards; and I'm sure there are other creative ways we haven't even thought of.
Recipients will follow two criteria: They must have been registered on the boards by July 1, and must have a post count of at least 150. We feel that this toy drive is primarily for the good of our online community, and that this is the best way to assure donors that the recipients are, indeed, part of the community.
We will also be asking recipients whether their participation in the drive will be the only source of holiday gifts, or more supplemental to other gifts the children will receive from other family members or friends.
