you were called away from us that sad, spring morning
the sun shone so brightly that day
but in our hearts...nothing but grey
tears fell from our eyes like rain from the sky
our sunshine was gone
our queen, our baby
all the tears could not bring you back
we know for we tried
He came and took you away
you were not meant to stay
your life here was short
but forever in our hearts you shall be
etched forever into our memories
your job here was done
and so he called you home
we love you and miss you always
our queen, our baby, our sunshine
In memery of Shaely Angela Marie, born November 17, 1999, passed away on April 16, 2000 at the age of 4 months and 30 days.
I remember that morning like it only happened yesterday. I awoke to the sound of the phone ringing wondering why no one was picking up. After a few rings I decided I might as well pick up the phone but when I did the caller had already hung up. I went back to sleep after that and it wasn't too long after that the phone rang, I picked it up and was informed by one of my aunts that my other aunts little girl passed away.
I could not believe it. No one could. I dropped the phone and ran into my sisters' room to inform them and to tell them to get ready so we can leave for the hospital. We were just leaving the house when my brother walked in the door. I told him what happened and he drove to town.
When we arrived at the hospital we saw all of our family there. The news was still hard to grasp. Mom and dad came up to us and said that we can see her if we wanted, she was in the emergency room. I'll never forget what I saw.
Lying there on the cold bed was Shaely, she was indeed gone. Her mom and dad were standing right beside her as was her older brother. Shelby, the second oldest brother, was sitting on the bed next to her holding her hand. At that sight I burst into tears.
Shaely died as a result of SIDS. She had rolled onto her tummy and couldn't roll over again. She was in her crib right beside her mom and dad's bed. It was our grandpa who found her....it hurt him the worst.
Her funeral was held on April 19, 2000. That was the last time we got to see her. My aunts first baby girl was taken away so suddenly, that even know, its still hard to grasp that she is gone.
