uploading your own pictures, videos and music and making
new friends within minutes.

Breastfeeding.com Site Menu
This menu takes you away from the Community section,
and into the main Breastfeeding.com website, where you will find
thousands of articles answering all your breastfeeding questions.
Quick Link Menu
Bar
The Quick Link Menu Bar, containing Live Chat, Instant Messenger
and such, is available anytime you are logged in.

Community Menu
The Community Menu has links to functions that are
common to all Breastfeeding.com Community Members. This
includes Community picture and video galleries, browsing for new
members, community music galleries, groups for members with
specific interests, events that you can join, facilities to
invite your friends, and our very active Forums.

Personal Menu
The personal menu is your own personal menu for creating
and viewing your home page, submitting your own videos, photos,
and music. You can also send personal messages, invite
others to join the Breastfeeding.com Community, create your own
blogs, polls, events, and groups. If you don't see this
menu, click "My Account" in the Community Menu, and the
Personal Menu will appear. The following "Getting Started"
guide will take you through the Personal Menu, and all the first
things you need to know.

Getting Started
Now we'll take you on a tour of what you can do
to get started with the Breastfeeding.com community.

First you can create an account by using Breastfeeding.com's
Registration/Signup Now page. Once you have registered go
to the Community Menu bar and click on My Account: You will
see you have one new message that
will be from me welcoming you to breastfeeding.com, my message
also contains helpful hints and ideas for creating your own
page.
Personal Menu

Now Click on
Main: This
is your account area.
Click on
Messages: You will be able to read the personal messages
that are sent to you from your friends. We call them PM’s for
short.
Click on the title of the PM and respond to the message.
By clicking on "Compose", you will be able to send out
messages to either a member name, or an email address.
Note that using the "select" drop down box, you can
message all your friends or select friends easily. If you
belong to a group, you will be able to message all members of a
group at once.
Click on
Friends: You will be able to edit or delete
items.
Click on
Favorites: Here you can view the items you have
submitted to your favorites from various places.
Click on Bulletin: Here you can
view and create bulletins for only you and your friends.
Click on
Invite:
Here you can send emails to invite your friends to
join you on our social network. You can import your
address books from Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN and AOL to make it
simpler to invite your friends to join you on the Breastfeeding.com Community.

My page:
(My Account > My Page)

On the Personal Menu bar, click on My Page:
This will be your own personal page on Breastfeeding.com's
community. Check out all the fun things you can do to set up your own
page. You can also visit other member's pages for ideas.

Settings:
(My Account > Settings)

Next click on Settings: Here you will find Account
Settings, Profile Settings, Profile Picture, Design My Profile
and Profile Theme.

How do I change my password, email
and other account information?
Account Settings:
(My Account > Settings > Account Settings)

Within Settings, click on the Account Settings: You can change your
personal information here and then click on the Save Account
Settings button at the bottom. Note:
If you do not wish to have your 'pin' visible on the World 'Mom
Map', uncheck the box titled "show my location on map".
If you want your position to be exact on the "World Map',
enter your Latitude and Longitude, otherwise the pin will appear
related to the site of your Internet Service Provider, which may
be only a few miles away or in another state or country!
Also note, we have a Birthday function which highlights members
with a birthday today, so set your birthday!

How do I change my personal
information?
Profile Settings:
(My Account > Settings > Profile Settings)

Below Account Settings you will see Profile Settings, click on
Profile Settings: At the top is a place to add a Headline. This is a line of
text or a graphic that will appear at the top of your personal page as well as
at the bottom of a post, called a signature line on the message
boards. We will get to the message boards later.
Go down the line of options and click the information that you would like
listed. Pregnant, how many children etc.
In the large boxes below the options: You may write anything you like in
them. You may also post pictures or videos in theses boxes by going to
sites like photobucket or youtube to collect the links to make
your photos and videos appear.
When you are done click on the Save Profile Settings at the
bottom.
Click on My Page to see the changes you have made.

How do I change
my profile picture?
Profile Picture: (My Account > Settings > Profile Picture)

Below Profile Settings you will see Profile Picture: Here you
will be able to select a profile picture that will appear on your
page and also as an avatar when you are posting on the message
boards.
If you don’t already have a picture in your computer you may go
to a site like
www.photobucket.com and click on Avatars. Select one you
like. Right click on the avatar and save it to your computer.
In the Profile Picture section click on the browse button, click
on the avatar from your computer, click on upload image.
A screen will pop up saying:
Your image has
been updated.
It may take a few minutes before it can be viewed by you and
other members, due to a web browsers cache.
Breastfeeding.com also
offers avatars for you to choose, click on
ยป I don't have a picture, let me choose an avatar...
and a selection of avatars will drop down.
Click on My Page to see
your image.

How do I design my page?
Design My Profile:
(My Account > Settings > Design My Profile)

Below Profile Picture you will see Design My Profile:
You will spend a lot of time here so pick a time when you have
time to just sit and play. You will not want to be
interrupted once you start!
My first suggestion is to click on a link at the top of the page
that says:
[ View profile layout guide ]
You will find this guide very helpful when trying to choose
back grounds and colors for various areas of your personal page. It is helpful to print out a copy to refer to.
At the top this page you can browse again for a background picture from your
computer. This image will show up on the side edges of your page.
Next select colors by clicking on the select colors button in the
middle of each section and have fun. Remember to save your
settings at the bottom and then go to your page to check your
changes.
Now that you have your profile page done. You are ready to add
photos.

Submit Items:
(My
Account > Submit Items)

On the Personal Menu bar click
on
Submit Items: Here you will find: Upload Picture, Write Blog, Create Poll, Upload Music and Upload
Videos.

How do I upload a picture?
Upload Picture:
(My Account > Submit Items > Upload Picture)

Click on the
Upload Picture, enter the information and
upload a photo from your computer. You can also click if you wish
to share your photos with the community or keep them private. Your pictures will have to be
approved by admin so they will not appear on your page until they
are approved. It should not take very long for you to be able to
view the photos you have uploaded. I approve them several times a
day.

How do I write a personal blog?
Write Blog:
(My Account > Submit Items > Write Blog)

Click on
Write Blog:
To create a blog fill in the blank boxes and submit at the bottom.
Blogs can be deleted and edited as you wish.

How do I create a poll?
Create Poll:
(My Account > Submit Items > Create Poll)

Click on
Create Poll:
To create a Poll fill in the blank boxes and submit at the bottom.
Once submitted, your poll will first have to be approved
by our staff before it can be viewed by other members.

How do I upload music?
Upload Music:
(My Account > Submit Items > Upload Music)

Click on
Upload Music:
To upload music you will need to create
an album so click on Create Album, fill in required fields and
click 'Create Album' button at the bottom of your screen.
This will direct you to the songs upload area.
Once in the 'Create Album' upload songs area, fill out the
required information and then browse your computer for your
song and
click upload song.
Repeat the above for all the songs you want. Click on my page, your player will be at the top right
side.
If the player does not work right away it is because songs must
be approved by the admin. I will be checking several times a day
just like I do with the photos so your player will work.
Try it! It's really fun.
You can then go to my account, my items, manage music,
edit details: From here you can delete the songs you don't
want to keep.
Click on Music at the top again and see all the songs everyone
else has added to their players. You can click on a song and add it to your own player.
Don't hesitate to pm me if you have a new player so I can approve
it for you.

How do I upload videos?
Upload Videos:
(My Account > Submit Items > Upload Videos)

Click on
Upload Videos:
If you are uploading a cool YouTube or similar video you have
found on the internet, select 'Add Video Stream'. Go
to your YouTube or similar site, and capture the URL address at
the top of the browser, and paste this into the box marked 'URL'
(e.g.;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxx).
If you are uploading your own video clip, choose "Upload
Video", and browse to your video for uploading.
Uploading can take several minutes depending on your video and
your internet connection.
Your videos will have to be approved by admin so they will
not appear on your page until they are approved. It should not
take very long for you to be able to view the videos you have
uploaded. I approve them several times a day.

My Items:
(My Account > My Items)

You can Manage your Account by
clicking on My Items:
Manage Pictures, Manage Blogs, Manage Polls, Manage Videos,
Manage Music, Comments, Blocked Users and My Arcade Challengers.
You will be able to edit or delete the items you want in these
sections.
Now that your page is done, you have pictures, blogs, polls,
music and videos it is time to make friends.

Community Menu

Home: Will
take you to the main page of our social network.
Invite:
Here you can send emails to invite your friends to
join you on our social network. You can import your
address books from Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN and AOL to make it
simpler to invite your friends to join you on the Breastfeeding.com Community.
Gallery: Will allow you to view all the photos that our
members have posted in their personal galleries.
Browse:
Will allow you to put a members name in the search box toward
the bottom of the page to find their profile.
Blogs: Will allow you to view the current posts on all the
blogs submitted.
Forum:
You will be able to view and participate in discussions on our
forums.
Polls: You will be able to view all the polls posted and
be able to vote on each one.
Groups: You will be able to view all the groups that have
been started and join the ones of interest to you or start your
own group in this area.
Videos: You will be able to view recently posted videos
Music: Here you can create your own music player,
instructions posted above.
Events: You will be able to view the upcoming events that
have been posted and post your own upcoming events.
Arcade:
You will be able to play games and compete against other
breastfeeding.com members.
My account: Will take you to your personal page.

How do I invite friends to join?
(My Account > Invite)
From My Account select Invite
from either the Personal Menu or Community Menu bar. There are
several ways in which you can invite friends to join:
1)
Top of page: You can import your address books from Yahoo,
Gmail, Hotmail, MSN and AOL
simply by selecting your email getaway. Fill in the
required fields and import. Check all the friends you wish
to invite and click "Invite Your Friends" button, this will send
an invite to each of your selected friends.
2) Below: You can enter the email addresses of your
friends in the 5 spaces provided, and click send. This
will send email invites to your chosen friends.
Once you have sent out your invites you can check your pending
invite status by clicking on "Pending Invites." This
will show you who was invited. All you have to do now is
wait for your friends to respond and join you on
Breastfeeding.com Community.

How do I find others on the
site?
Select Browse from the
Community Menu bar. This will take you to the "Browse/All
Members" page. Under all 5 headers you are able to search
for members using several different criteria, eg. Pregnant,
How many children, Location, Name, Zip Code, Premie etc.
Fill in the criteria you are looking for and click "Search" at
the bottom of the page. The page will refresh, scroll down
and you will see the results of your search.

How do I join a group?
Select Groups from the
Community Menu bar. This will take you to the "Groups
Home" page, here you can see "Groups By Category" and "New
Groups".
"Groups By Category" holds all the groups that have been
created. You can click on a category that interests you,
this will take you to a page which holds the different subject
groups within that category (eg. Social > The Trading post)
The groups are labeled either "Public" or "Private".
Public means the group and topics are open to anyone one who
wishes to join. Private means that they are private groups
and you have to ask the creator permission to join.
To join these groups, simply click on the group you are
interested in joining. The selected group page will open
and you will see in the top left corner, under the group title,
a button labeled "JOIN", click on this button. Another new
page will open telling you, eg. "You have just joined the
group:
The Trading Post"
"New Groups" are the most recently created groups,
to join these simply select the "join" link in your selected
group box.

How do I create a group?
Select Groups from the
Community Menu bar. This will take you to the "Groups
Home" page, here you will see a header labeled "Create A Group".
Click on "Create A Group" this will take you to the
"Create Group" page. Fill in all the required fields and
submit.

How do I create an event?
Select Events from the
Community Menu bar. This will take you to the "Events
Home" page, here you will see a header labeled "Add New Event".
Click on "Add New Event" this will take you to the "Add
New Event" page. Fill in all the required fields and
submit.

Forums
This is the place to make friends forever. We have
17 different forums to choose from. The General and the Debate
get more traffic than the other forums but if you need specific
information from moms on how they handle the situations that
arise from their nursing experience, click on the forum that you
think will be more geared to your situation.

How do I post on the
forums?
Select Forum from the
Community Menu bar. This will take you to the forums.
After you enter a forum browse the topics. If you find an
interesting topic, click on that topic and see the responses to
the topic. You will also be able to comment on the topic yourself
at the bottom of the page. Just type in the message box and submit. There are other
options that you will learn by just clicking on the different
buttons. For instance instead of type and submit, try clicking on
a button just above the white box and to the left called Post
Reply.
Here you
will find even more options to make your post special:

You will be able to make
your text bold, italic, or under lined. You
can add color, size,
font and then smilies. If you click on
(more) at the bottom of the smilies you will
find a whole variety of smilies.
To Create your own Thread (topic):
Click on the forum you want to post in. Click on New Thread at
the top of the page, on the left side and create your own thread.
At the top of the forum pages we have a set of buttons:

User CP: Here you
will be able to access your account to make changes
FAQ: Here you can enter search words to find answers to
your questions.
Members List: You will be able to enter a member name to
find her profile.
Calendar: You can add your events, anniversaries,
birthdays etc.
New Posts: Will give you a list of the latest posts made
by members.
Search: Enter a member's name to find their threads and posts.
Quick Links: Options for your use.

Log Out: You may
log out here.

Quick Link Menu Bar

The first
box shows how many PM's you have received and need to
answer. Just click on the link and it will take you to your
messages.
The next buttons:
Live Chat: Click on live chat and chat with members that
are on line. It is loads of fun.
Instant Messenger:
Will enable you to instant message your friends.
Help:
Contains all the information you'll need to navigate
Breastfeeding.com.
Bookmark Us:
You can add us to your favorites.
