I am a mother of 3, a son that is 4 years, and my daughters are 3 years and
2 months. We live on a dairy farm and my husband and I milk cows. I am
very open to my kids about breastfeeding. They think Mommy has milk in her
tummy, to feed their baby sister. I figure at 4 and 3 that is ok for them to
think the way they do, for now.
One morning after I came in from milking cows, the kids were up and they
were wanting breakfast. I told my son "Mommy has to get some milk for breakfast. We don't have any in the fridge to make
anything or drink." My son looking confused and wondering to himself, why
is Mom going under the sink to get a container for milk? So being so honest,
he said to me, "Mommy, what are you doing, your breast pump is over here." My face turned beat red and I replied, "Mommy's milk is for your little
sister only, and the rest of us drink cow's milk!" Kids will say anything
and aren't shy of anything.
