I am a pediatrician who is currently nursing my 5-month-old
daughter, Sarah. One day, my 6-year-old nephew, James, came over to
visit. As James was sitting on the couch next to me, immersed in his
comic book, I began to nurse my daughter.
All of the sudden, James looked up at me quizzically and asked me what
I was doing. I explained to him that I was feeding Sarah milk. He then
asked me why I didn't feed her with a bottle. I replied that feeding
babies this way is healthier.
"Who says?," James inquired.
"Well, doctors like me do." I replied.
James seemed satisfied with that answer and then continued to read his
comic book.
A few hours later, my sister came to pick up James and take him home.
When James saw him mom, he went over to her and whispered that he saw
Aunt Titi giving milk to baby Sarah.
"Oh really," she replied, "you saw Aunt Titi
nursing?"
"No, no, no," replied James, "Aunt Titi wasn't nursing.
She's a doctor so she was doctoring the baby."
