My son, Jeffrey, was six years old when I had a new baby. Jeffrey was
always a "know-it-all" kid. No one could ever tell him anything. He would always come back with "I knew that."
I was modestly breastfeeding my new baby when a relative came for a visit
to welcome the newcomer. Teasing Jeffrey, our guest started preparing
lunch for the little ones and, jokingly, asked Jeffrey if he thought the
new baby would like a baloney sandwich, too. Jeffrey replied, "No, I don't think so....he doesn't eat...all he does
is keep sucking on Mommy's belly all the time."
Going back a few years, when Jeffrey was only 3 years old, I told him,
rubbing my belly, that we were going to have another baby, and that it
was growing inside me right now. Since no one could tell "know-it-all"
Jeffrey anything, I asked Jeffrey if he remembered being inside me before
he was born. He answered: "Yup, I remember."
Then I asked Mr. Smart Alex, "Wasn't it dark in there?"
His reply: "Nope, I had my flashlight!"
