I
have to admit a certain weakness for all things cute, cuddly and
sweet, when it comes to our 2-month-old son, Cameron. My husband knows
that I can't be trusted to leave the baby department without
SOMETHING! So of course, when I saw a set of Bert and Ernie car seat
strap covers, I was immediately taken with them. Despite the fact that
they weren't one of those baby necessities, I couldn't resist!
One day, my husband and I were preparing to leave my grandmother's
house, so we strapped Cameron into his car seat and were standing in
the driveway chatting before we went. Being new (and first time)
parents, we tend to be quite attentive to every noise he makes, so
when we heard a sucking and slurping noise we turned around
immediately. We found our young son contentedly latched on to Ernie's
nose, in that blissful way reserved for nursing. It was only then that
I noticed how much Ernie's bright red nose on an orange background
resembled a "boobie" (in size, similar color and shape) and
that Ernie was ideally located near him for such an activity! I
imagine that he must have thought that I had finally given in and
detached them for sake of convenience!
Since then, we've taken care to move the "Boobie boys"
a little farther away from our son's open mouth, and I will never
watch Sesame Street in the same way again...
