Humorous Nursing Tales

My sister is a stay-at-home breastfeeding mom to three children ages 5, 3
and 1. In telling her 5-year-old her plans to go out for dinner one evening, she thought she would have some fun with her and tell her she
wouldn't be home that night and she might need to help her Dad in the middle
of the night with the baby. She said "Now if Rebekah wakes up, you'll be
able to give her a bottle, right?" ( Of course baby Rebekah does not take a
bottle.) Little Kate said "Well, I don't think she'll take a bottle, and my
nipples aren't big enough!" To verify this statement, she proceeded to look
down her shirt and pronounced "Nope, they're definitely not big enough Mom!"

I am currently nursing my 3 month daughter, our third child. Yesterday evening she started to fuss, my very precocious three year
old quickly shouted, "Mom, take off your shirt, the baby is
crying!"
Also...
My five year old son can be very impatient and grows tired of
hearing "wait until I finish feeding your sister". Last week
he came running up to me as I was nursing and asked for something.
I
told him to wait, he looked down at her and asked "well, is she
almost done, or does she still have to eat the other side?"

I was in the mother's room at my local Shopping Center feeding my second
child who was a couple of months old, when my daughter then aged 3 years
starts staring intently at a olive skinned woman across the room who was also
feeding her baby. I am quite fair skinned and my nipples are a light pink
color and the woman across the room being olive had very dark brown nipples.
This must have been quite a shock for my young daughter as all of
a sudden at the top of her voice she yells "Oh Mummy, look at that woman's
dirty boobs, oh yuk!". I was very embarrassed but at the same time I could
not stop laughing. Thankfully the woman also saw the humor in it.

My mother stayed with my husband and I for the first week after the birth of
our daughter. It was our first child so I was learning how to breastfeed
and my mother was a wonderful support. I was drinking water all of the time
and took a large glass to place beside my bed for when I was thirsty during
the night. One night, I emptied the glass in the middle of the night and
sent my husband for a refill. The next morning, my mother came into the
room and immediately started laughing. She picked up the glass and asked
about the "coaster" that my husband had set the glass on...the nursing pads
that I had set aside as I fed my daughter!

I am a mother of 4 daughters and I breastfed each one. Last year when my
last daughter was only 2 weeks old I was nursing her in the Living room.
It
was around breakfast time so my 4 year old said she was hungry and wanted
some cereal. I asked her to hold on till I was done, but most mothers know a
4 year old can be very anxious. So as I was feeding the baby I remembered
there was not very much milk in the gallon jug, so I told my 4 year old that
yes she could pour some milk into her cup because there was not too much in
it. So she preceded to do that. When she was done she brought the jug over
to me and asked" Mom, can you fill it up with milk?". I said no Hun we need
to go to the store. Then she precedes to say "no mom. fill it up with your
boob". I could not quit laughing, she was so serious and could not understand what was so funny.
See my girls think it is the norm for a woman
to breastfeed their babies. I hope they grow to realize the importance of
it.
