About the Author-
Joan McCartney is a seasoned mother of four, two girls (10 and 13) and two
boys (20 and 24). She and her husband, David have been married for 27 years. Joan joined
La Leche League in 1978 when her second son was 6 weeks old and became an LLL Leader the
following year. She was certified as an IBCLC in 1985 and is the author and illustrator of
seven books, including "The Other Side Makes Chocolate" which is now out of
print, and "We Should Do this More Often".
"My books follow the chronological path of my children's growth - they lead, I follow
right along and write about it from the perspective of a parent or a spectator. I LOVED
working with mothers and babies - it was one of the most rewarding times of my life. My
advice to new breastfeeding moms: If your baby didn't need your milk, it wouldn't be
there. Trust in nature and the instincts it has given you."
