I Feel So Blessed To Be A Nursing Mom

by Missi McClung

I feel so blessed to be a nursing mom and have two great stories to tell and remember forever.

My nephew Darian was 2 when my son Gavin was born. Darian was breastfed but weaned himself at 9 months and didn't remember this odd thing at all.  He understood that Gavin was eating milk and loved to sit beside us while we nursed.

Finally one day he asked me "Are you hurt?" Darian just kept asking me over and over if I was hurt.

He pointed to his teeth... I finally understood.  He was asking me, "Didn't it hurt to have Gavin biting me?"

I explained that Gavin doesn't have teeth yet so I was okay.

It touched my heart that Darian was so concerned about me.

When my son was 6 months old, I was getting situated to nurse him.  I had my breast out but was moving around to get comfortable with Gavin on my lap.

He was laying there with his mouth wide open waiting.

He finally got too impatient and grabbed my breast with both hands and jerked it into his mouth!

He didn't even stop nursing when my husband and I both cracked up!
