Crazy Circumstances

by Apryl

My girls Antonia and Josephine.. Josephine, at almost four months is exclusively breastfed.

When Josephine was seven weeks old I had my appendix out. The first day I was in the hospital I pumped my milk and threw it away all day. At home Josephine's daddy fed her the frozen breast milk I had pumped out during my first weeks of breastfeeding. The second day I was in the hospital the Lactation Consultant gave me the OK to breastfeed my daughter again.

We spent the entire day together in the hospital while I recovered from surgery. I breastfed Josephine and held her all day. Nurses kept coming and going and ooing  and ahing over how quiet and happy Josephine was.  It goes to show that you can make it through crazy circumstances without losing your breast milk supply.

There is a picture of my first breastfed baby (now 7 1/2 years old) in  gallery album number 34, I breastfed her for four years. She is the proud big sister holding her baby sister in the picture.
