My Nipples Are Too Flat!

by Maritza Pelzer

When I had my first child, my doctor told me straight away that I would not be able to breastfeed because my nipples were too flat!

Well, I cried my eyes out!

I wanted so much to give my little girl the best start in life and every time I made her a bottle and read "Breastfeeding is best for babies" I would cry again!  Why me?

Then when I fell pregnant with my second girl (four years later) I was quite determined to get the breastfeeding thing right this time.   I bought the best pump and got a pair of nipple shields.

My daughter was able to latch onto the nipple shield but after a week my milk production fell, and not knowing any better I reached for a bottle.  Big mistake!

After only three days my little girl refused the breast!  So here I was crying again!

At least I could still express my milk for four months, then things got too busy and I quit.

When I heard I was pregnant again ( OOOOPS!) I did as much reading on breastfeeding as possible.  And then I discovered Breastfeeding.com.

What a wonderful website.  Packed with all the information I would need to make my third time a success!

So now I am breastfeeding my third little girl!  Yes, with flat nipples and all!

She is now three months old and we are doing great!  Never let anyone tell you that you can not breastfeed due to small or flat nipples.  I just proved them all wrong!

Just don't give up !

Thank you Breastfeeding.com for all the information.

You truly made the difference!
