Menstural cycle
Posted On 06/03/2008 14:04:28 by panrachlv
Just yesterday I was feeling like I was mad at everything.  Of course baby not sleeping, and husband not there probably didn't help, but I went to the bathroom, and vuala!  I was bleeding! It was pretty heavy too, but is it normal to start a period while breastfeeding?

I got my period 31 days after my son was born.  Most woman don't when nursing but us lucky one's do.  Be careful, you are not ovulating so use protection Ms Fertal!  Don't use birth control, it'll  mess up your hormones more and have a little effect on your breast milk production.

Yes it is normal to start your period while nursing. It may also be late and even skip months so you want to be careful and use some sort of bc when you have sex. I hate the idea of using any kind of "pill" form bc while nursing so I use encare ( a spermacide incert, use as directed on package). When I started my period again my baby was 7 mos old and I was going to use "natural" fam. pl. but third period  came 3 days late and this mos was a week late so I guess if I'm unsure of how close ovulation is I can always use the incert. Also I noticed by reading some other blogs there are ?'s on will having period affect milk supply, the answer is no. Just because your period is back does not mean you will make less milk.
