I am a mom of three and all were bf and i am now nursing my 9monthold and she bit me ouch and now it is bleeding any suggestions on how to care for it?? I NEVER had this happen ever!!!!! Help!!
I have no clue how to care for it. I guess it all depends on how badly it's been bitten. If it's just a tiny scratch I would just leave it alone, just keep it clean and dry. If it's a gash then I may put some antibiotic ointment on it between feedings (if that side is even still in business). Just make sure to clean it up before you feed so baby doesn't get any in her mouth! Nipples get a lot of blood, I think they are pretty vascular so they tend to heal up pretty quickly. But my best advice would be to keep it clean and dry and maybe a little ointment, but just a little.
Thank you for the advice i was really bad i contacted a councler here and she told me to express milk on it and let i air dry. i pumped for 2days was tooo painful to let her nurse on that side!! than by the 3rd day it was ok! Hope you never have to go thru this it was really bad.
DON'T WORRY, IT'S HAPPENED TO ME! MY 8MONTH OLD JUST BIT ME ALSO.... MY MIDWIFE RECOMMENDED LANOLIN. YOU CAN BUY IT ANYWHERE WHERE BABY STUFF IS SOLD, PUT IT ON AFTER BABY NURSES AND EVEN IF THERE IS A LITTLE STILL LEFT NEXT TIME, IT IS NOT HARMFUL FOR BABY. GOOD LUCK
