little red bumps on babies skin
Posted On 07/06/2008 12:45:55 by quelvasquez

not sure what it is, but my 6 wk old is covered with tiny red bumps on his arms, chest, a bit on his face (cheeks), and back.  Some days these are less noticeable but they never completely go away.  Is it possible that my diet is affecting his complexion.  I'm cautious about what i eat, although i do indulge in a soda every now and then.

I have been using dreft detergent, wash his face and hands every morning, and bathe him with a organic baby soap.

has anyone else noticed these on their baby?

everyone in my family has very sensitive skin and dreft has many fragrances included that may irritate. we use all free and clear or arm and hammer essentials free and clear and have had no problems with either of these products. i did read what to expect in the first year and your son just seems to have baby acne which will go away on its own, i just added the dreft part in case you were worried about things that may irritate his skin.

Could it be eczema? My son has it and that is what it looks like on him and he has it all over some days and some days it dies down and then comes back. I didn't believe the first doctor that told me that's what it was but I had him checked again and had a second doctor tell me the same. I also can't use the dreft detergent even though it's made for babies and everything it does still have perfumes in it and he has a reaction from it. I have to use detergent that is Free & Clear (free of any dyes and perfumes). You could also get a can of Oatmeal from the grocery store and grind up 1/2 cup- 1 cup in a food processor or coffee grinder because it's a lot cheaper than the "baby brand" oatmeal baths they have out there.

sounds like he might have baby acne or a heat rash. it should go away on its own. when my son had it i would give him a bath in aveeno baby oatmeal stuff and their body wash. but give it a few more weeks. mine just turned 8 wks old and his just went away.
