help with pump
Posted On 08/26/2008 09:42:08 by mjohnson2410
Anyone got any suggestions.....I have been using the Avent Isis manual pump for occasional pumping.  Out of the blue, it no longer has any suction.  Yes, I assembled all the parts correctly.  It worked wonderfully before.  I've tried switching valves and nothing works.  I've also contacted the manufacturer and they are no help.  I don't have the money right now to purchase a new pump, so any help would be wonderful.

Generally WIC can help if you are exclusively nursing. Also, most hospitals have "grant" rental pumps for these cases and can rent on a month to month basis ( at no charge to you) depending on availability.

I have the pump too and I know if it stops suctioning then its because either I forgot to put the little white valve thingy in or I put it in wrong. But if you said you dbl checked then I dont know what else it could be. Do you have a local WIC office? They give out free breast pumps to BFing mothers.

I have this pump too.  I know you said that you assembled it right but I just want to double check that you have the little white valve in correctly.  I have gotten that thing confused a lot.  You need to insert it from underneath, and the star pattern is visible if you remove the diaphragm. Umm, the only other thing I could suggest would be to buy a new diaphragm.  Have you replaced those yet?  If that doesn't work then I would contact the manufacturer AGAIN until they can find someone to help you.  I am all about making people do their job. Those things aren't cheap and if it's a defect of some sort then they should be able to replace it for you.
