Biting
Posted On 08/27/2008 14:16:29 by Landonsmilkmaid
I am still nursing Landon, and we are having a real issue right now. The little guy likes to bite. I have been bit so many times, that I can't handle it anymore. I have tried everything I can think of, to get him to stop and he still bites. I have screamed (natural reaction), he only cried, and then got use to that. I have stopped nursing him and made him wait. I have even tapped his cheek with my hand. Not a smack but an I'm trying to to get your attention slap. Still he continues to bite. I think he does it to be onery. He'll watch me and then slowly bite down. He even bites, holds on, and pulls back. OUCH!!!!!!!!! My girls were easy to break. Brooklyn bit me once and I screamed so loud that she started crying, too. Annaliese bit a few more times, but tapping her cheek worked with her. Landon is not so easily educated:{ What else can I do? I would try weaning him, but he is allergic to milk, and gags everytime I give him a bottle of soy formula. He won't even take more than 2 oz. of expressed milk from his cup. He won't take a bottle, no matter what nipple I use. Please help! I am getting so afraid to nurse him, it is terribly painful.

I hadn't thought to hold his nose! I'll try that the next time it happens. I really believe in nursing but he has had teeth since he was four months old, so it has been six months of biting, and I am about at the end of what I can tolerate.

I know there are a lot of mommies on here who have dealt with this very thing. Try posting your question on the general boards and I think the mommies there can help you.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Taking my DD off of the breast when she bites has worked so far for me. So I don't have any other suggestions. I hope he learns soon!!
