Posted On 08/28/2008 02:13:52 by Diana0205
I've been trying to find some information on if breastmilk ever goes bad inside the breat, but just havent found anything. hope someone canhelp!!
I nursed my 2 year old daughter for 15 months,  i had to stop due to a medical issue. Now that she is 2, she still want to nurse and will asks for it. in one occation she got sick, and cried to be nursed so  i did, i was worried that my milk would be bad, or if it was ok to continue nursing her since she had not been fed in months. I havent felt that feeling you get when you produce milk, but if she laches i can hear her drinking. so is this healthy?? Is the milk in side my breast still good? or should i just be more strict and not breast feed anymore?
help!

Yep, I agree. Keep nursing that sweet little one if she's asking for it. It will only do her good!!

Hi Diana!  Well, first, your milk will never go bad in your breast.  I haven't found any information to back me up yet but I'm still looking!

Okay, so now the second part, you said that you stopped breast feeding your little one when she was little over a year, right?  Wow, if you are still producing milk (which is amazing) then I see nothing wrong with letting your daughter start nursing again if you want. kELLYMOM is a great source of information for breastfeeding mommies.  You will find out that breast feeding (no matter what the age) is always healthy! So happy nursing mommy!

Internally, your breast milk is naturally regulated by your body.
Therefore, your milk will not sour inside, it will always be good and it is more than ok to still nurse.
You followed your maternal instinct and comforted your baby. It still has immunity protection for your child too!
You should not "just be more strict". This goes agaist what your instinct is telling you to do!
You are a wonderful mommy!
