Washable Nursing Pads

Confused by all the nursing pad choices? Or perhaps you are wondering if you have any choices?

As a designer one of my most popular products are nursing pads (which I personally used with all three of my breast fed babies )and I thought I would give a little info on washable nursing pads.

If you are concerned with saving money the first point of interest is that washable nursing pads usually pay for them selves in 12 uses or less!. Disposable pads can cost $6.95 a box of 10 pairs! some even more. If you leak a lot in the begining as I did , that means you need a new box every 3 days if you do 4 changes a day!.

It is very important that you keep your nipples dry and that means changeing your pads often.
Other than cost savings reusable pads also are much more comfortable!
Fabrics now available for quality nursing pads go way beyond cotton these days.
Naturekins most popular design are organic bamboo velour inner layer and cashmere outer leak resistant layer .
Many other designers have lots of great fabric choices so look around.
Washable pads also come in different sizes so you can eliminate the dreaded nursing pad ring showing through!.
It is important that the pad comes past the widest area of the breast if you want to avoid this ring . The other option for avoiding the ring is to use a discreate oval shape nursing pad.
Of course it goes without saying that reusable pads, made in Canada and the US are much better for the enviroment.
Next blog I will be discusing reusable nursing pad fabric choices pros and cons and how to fight thrush with good reusable pad fabric choices.
