Hello all! New here and just saying hi. Mother of two boys. One is a happy and healthy two year old. The other is a very small, very sick preemie in the NICU at Albany Medical Center.

My son Terry ( the two year old) was also a preemie, however, he didn't need the extensive care my new son, Clinton (no not like 'Bill and Hillary', like Clint) needs. He's on a ventilator, in an issolette to control his temperature, is NPO (not allowed to 'eat' and is being fed 'nutrients' intraveniously), had a perferated intestine that required surgery, and just opened his eyes.

Now, having two boys is all this mom could ask for or want (no girls, ribbons, or pink for me, Thanks!) But having two preemies, one more critical than the last. YIKES!!! No more kids for me ever! This is more than enough stress for me thanks much.

Terry was a good 5lbs. 9 oz. (not the biggest baby, no, but he made up for it now. He's 35lbs. at two years old and nearly two and a half feet tall!) when he was born, dwarfing his (literally) little brother Clinton's mere 1lb 5 oz. Remember now, Clinton is really really early. I had just turned 23 weeks the day I had him mind you. Of course every nurse or doctor in the TWO hospitals I was in were 'dooming and glooming' his chances. But the little guy comes from fighting and stubborn stock.

He's now three weeks old and gaining about an oz. or more each day. It breaks my heart that I can't pick him up yet (not even for Kangaroo care, he's not stable enough) and all the milk I've been freezing for him is just sitting over in the freezer at the NICU, unused...

It's hard to keep pumping with Terry constantly bugging me while I'm pumping. Yeah, and having a two year old thats facinated and loves to pinch my boobs while I'm pumping is great! (all the while repeating, "Boob.... Boob?... Boob..." a 'new' word he learned from Daddy) I'm sure your all having a 'giggle fit' but it's not funny when my supply is minimal at best. Even with the hospital grade pump (which doesn't 'suck' enough... [har har]). *sigh*

The point is... See how a frazzled mom thinks?!? Here is your evidence.

If any of you has a similar story (or funny quip) from their time in the NICU (especially if you have other kids too) get back to me. I'm just looking to make friends so I can complain to someone who knows what I'm going through .

I'll be holding you and little Clinton in my thoughts. He sounds like a tough little bean!
