OK, SO I'M BREASTFEEDING MY 1MONTH OLD DAUGHTER AND SOON SHE'LL BE GOING TO DAYCARE.   I DON'T THINK I HAVE ENOUGH MILK TO FEED HER AND PUMP IT OUT FOR STORING! I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO!? ANY GREAT IDEAS OUT THERE?

I've been working 1 day a week.  Ds is 4 months old.  I'm away for 12 hours.  I pump 3 to 4 times.  I've noticed the next day when I'm at home with him all day my production is up.  My breast feel full and if he falls asleep to nap I have to pump to relieve engorgement.  In my case frequent pumping does in fact increase production. I do use a MEDELA Pump In Style.

Hi,

I started storing my milk since I got out of the hospital. I pump when my baby doesn't empty my breasts and also at night . I also suggest you purchase a good quality pump. My lactation nurse recomended the Medela Pump Instyle Advance and it works great. Also when you go back to work hopefully your employer will be understanding so you can pump at least every two - three hours so your milk won't deplete.

Pump whenever you can. If you can't find time, you can try pumping on one side while feeding on the other. I pump after my dd goes to sleep now, but at one month I wouldn't have been able to do that...she didn't go to bed until 12! :) Don't worry too much; get what you can now, but once you start working, you'll be able to pump for what she needs each day while away from her. If you need to up your supply, u can try oatmeal or fenugreek.
