How much does your EBF'r eat?
How much does your EBF'r eat?

I
am just curious.  My 1 year old (will be on Monday) is just beginning
to be interested in eating food and even at that - sometimes he has a
take it or leave it attitude.  Also - he is still quite comfy with
jarred baby food instead of table food.  Some family and friends think
I'm weird.  But he's my last baby and I'm not rushing him.  I EBF my
older son til he was 2 (baby led weaning)and intend on EBF Luke until
he weans...

Just curious if anyone else has one totally loving his booby milk and not so much on the food.

Happy Nursing....

18 months and still jarred food!

My son Tyler is just under 18 months and he is totally a boob man. If he had it his way he'd do nothing but breastfeed but he's easy going when I feed him and he'll take what I feed as long as it's pureed food (stage one and two Beech Nut - he gags on stage three for some reason). I do feed him table food that is chopped up finely and he does well with it but he is so slow going with the solids. The table food is more of a snack since he is still learning. Gerber Puffs are good since they melt in his mouth when he decides to stop chewing and just swallow it like it's liquid.
Many, many family members have given me eye rolls and told me I am coddling him (not just with this diet of his - which they don't realize I'm just following his lead anyway - but also with nursing a kid his age/co sleeping/ wearing him in a carrier sometimes and more).

It's great to hear someone like you who's had other kids say their child is like mine. It proves some just go at a slower pace with these types of things I guess.

20 months and still almost EBF
My "little" guy is almost 21 months and still 90% EBF, he'll eat almost all types of noodles, some puddings, crackers, but such a tiny amount, I am talking teaspoons worth. I took him to an EENT concerened about food aversion and he said he was fine, he just likes his breast milk. He's 26lbs and 36 inches, so he's not suffering any, that's for sure. I intend to keep offering both food and Breast milk, until he says differently.

toddler eating habits
My son is 16 months.  We started pureedfoods at five months and he has slowly taken an interest.  For a long time he would only eat pureed foods, nothing with texture (except lots and lots of cheerios and various gerber toddler snacks).  Now he has for about a month or so started losing interest in being fed with a spoon.  He seems to live on cheerios, grapes,  and oranges.  I have limited success with vegetables but not green ones and can't seem to get protein in him.  He does like yogurt, sometimes.  He used to eat the pureed meat combos from Gerber, but now won't take them from me anymore.  Babysitters and my mom say he takes them from them though.  I've tried repeatedly to get him to eat beans/legumes, but no real luck yet.    Now he gets about one formula bottle a night and more on the nights I work (part time, random schedule)  but the rest is nursing and he still nurses a lot.  Which is reassuring because I really worry sometimes that he's not getting enough protein and iron.  He does like pizza.  I was in Sam's shopping when he suddenly wanted to nurse in a very demanding way so I went and got a water and a peice ofcheese pizza (not a lot of choices at the Sams snck bar) and sat down at a table to let him nurse.  He nursed a little and then he took a keen interest in my pizza.  It doesn't sound very healthy but he likes it.  Now at home I will buy a pizza crust and pizza sauce and bake organic chicken and finely chop it and use that and mozerrela to top the pizza.  I don't now that it's that much healthier than commercial pizza, but it gets something inside him with meat/protein and something other than fruit and cheerios.
