Tough ventures w/ teens

I have a 15 year old son, thats been living w/ me now for 8 months, formally he lived w/ his father for 7 years. I was acknowledged only buy e-mail or regular mail by his father an wicked step-mother, and never saw him once during those years. All of a sudden in Oct. I get a phone call asking if I'd like my son to come and live w/ me, of course I said yes, in New York minute, w/o questions! I knew there was more than meets the eye for this switch to happen, and right away. Recently, the step-mom admitted that they were having difficulties w/ him, but didn't want to mention it.

I am having difficulties w/ him too, and thought of some alternatives I'd like to get some feed back on. Here are my best options, and if you got another, let me have it!

Have him visit a therapist, or eles he (1) moves back to his dads (2) lives at a youth ranch (3) have him emancipated if the dad agrees to it.
