Food Allergies
Posted On: 05/02/2008 14:59:17
My son will be 7 months old on the 9th. about a month ago he was diagnosed with food allergies to milk, peanuts, eggs and also our dog. We now have to carry a epi-pen with us everywhere just in case. I have had to remove those things from my diet as I am breastfeeding. My son is not gaining weight like the doctors think that he should be according to the precentile charts but he is healthy and active as to what he should be doing for his age. I was just wondering if anybody has had this happen and if anybody knows some good recipes for these allergens. I want to continue breastfeeding and I don't want to put him on formula if I can help it but they think that he needs to put more weight on! His father and myself are not big people so I think that he is fine and is just going to be small like we are. Any suggestions? Has anybody had personal opionions or had this happen to them?

breastfed babies ahould gain 4-7oz a week AFTER they regain birth weight. As long as you are in that range no need to worry. My baby is in the 1st % but he is always gaining. I stopped worrying after I consulted a lactation consultant. My baby has a sensitivity to dairy, so I don't eat dariy.

My son has been in the 10% on lbs. but fine on length. Doc says that is fine because bottle fed babies are generaly over fed and big, wich is the majority of the pop. At 7 month my baby was just starting to crawl. Did not get real crawl mobile til 9 months and sat upright alone. He is 13 months and can walk and stand holding on. can not walk alone. Can not drink from sippy cup with out help.

My other two whom I did not breast feed or do so this long did all of those things much earlier, but not at the same time. So I think as long as they are progressing(no matter the speed of it.) they are fine. I have had my share of good and crappy docs. Change if your not happy.
