She is back on the breast after I gave up bfing. She still occasionally gets a bottle of formula, but only because I need parts for my pump. I was surprised at how easy it was too. She seems to be a little calmer too, except during the evenings, but she isn't just being fussy for me, she is fussy for every one. Dh has approved me spending money to make a few shirts that don't allow much skin to skin for when all the touching gets to me. It is so much easier now that we don't have to deal with oversupply any more, even if I still have OALD. She can handle occasionally being drowned in BM, but couldn't handle it when it was the entire feeding she was being drowned. Just had to let every one know!
Well, Yesterday I pumped 4.85 ounces, not bad that I am having to build a supply. Today...drumroll...5.7 ounces! I also got in a full nursing session and a partial one this morning, and a partial one against this evening. I wish it is more, but it is my own fault for deciding to be lazy and formula feed then change my mind. Oh well. Pumping was easy at first, but my two oldest brats (yes they are brats) have discovered that it is 15 minutes that I can't chase around after them, and things are getting torn up. House still isn't clean, but like my mom says, "You actually expect your house to be clean w/kids? I thought I had raised you better than that!" (What to let my kids run rampant with no boundaries and respect for other peoples belongings?) All the kids are quiet and asleep, so I am thinking I should spend some quality time with DH. Thanks for the support every body, w/o it I don't think that I would have made it this far. I am not very patient and need to feel that my efforts are worthwhile. Y'all are good at that.
Well duh, but my dh just had to point that out to me today. It is another interesting day around here...and I wish I had a lot less interesting days sometimes. I have finally worked out a schedule for being hooked up to the 'milk machine' and have noticed an increase in my milk supply already. I have doubled my supply in 3 days, and am very pleased. Things I have learned today whilst pumping; 1) My husband knows my nipples better than I do, even when it comes to what size flange I need for pumping. Which makes me wonder, how much times do he spend thinking about them?! I finally concede that he was right and I need a much smaller flange than what I was using, and tell him why I was using that large a flange, for some reason I thought it was supposed to draw as much of my nipple and aureole in as the baby's mouth does, but the smaller flange worked better. His response, "It's a breast pump not a baby." Some times I could beat him, and do, but he enjoys it too much. 2)Pay attention when pulling your bra back up, if you lose your grip on it and it snaps across your nipple it HURTS! 3) If you make cookies that only you like a lot, there are more for you to eat!
