Baby waking up alot at night

I thought it was because of the nursing.  But this is out of hand.  My son has to sleep with my boob in his mouth all night, if it falls out he wakes up.  He is waking up like 7 or 8 times a night.  He is 4 1/2 months old almost 5 months.  Weighs about 15 pounds, not like he is lacking the nutrition dept.  But he does have all the signs of toothing.  Is it too early for that?  Could he just be super spoiled?  Whats your thoughts on "crying it out"?  Any alternatives.  He is only breastfed.  Doesn't know what a bottle or pacifier is.
